The restart of the US economy and social life needs to be planned and executed based on accurate numbers reflecting COVID confirmed cases, deaths and recoveries for different locations. But is there any way to know how reliable those numbers are? Megaputer set out with a research objective to determine whether there are any significant deviations of the real number of COVID deaths across US states compared to the reported numbers. Calculations based on two alternative sources of COVID deaths data (CDC and JHU) revealed that during the months of February through April 2020, the US unreported over 15,500 COVID deaths. A significant portion of under-reported COVID-19 deaths mainly sources from two US states and the research shows there is cause for more scrupulous investigation of all deaths that occurred in these states.
Do we really know the number of deaths caused by COVID-19 in the US?
